Halloween is huge in the US but not such a big thing for Czechs – the supermarkets aren’t full of Halloween candy and Jack-o-Lanterns. That doesn’t mean, however, that the occasion goes unmarked – thanks to various expat and foreigner friendly venues that put on parties.
If you’re in Prague for Halloween here’s a run-through of parties where you can get your zombie freak on:
note: most parties are taking place on Friday 29th or Saturday 30th so that people with regular jobs have a day to recover (and wash the make-up off). If you’re careful with the fake blood you could even get a couple of nights use out of your costume.
Monster Ball 8 at Klub Kostel
Where better to throw ghoulish shapes than a deconsecrated church?
An Evening of Screams at Belushi’s Bar
Live music, horror flicks playing on the screens and food & drink specials all night.
Running’ with the Devil at Hard Rock Cafe
Free entrance (though you ought to reserve a table for dinner), dance shows, the Rock Star Zombies and special Halloween cocktails and shots are the many temptations of the Hard Rock’s Halloween bash.
Bloody Sexy at Sasazu
The uber-trendy club is billing this as the biggest Halloween party in the land. Free entry before 11pm in costume too. Warning! Before clicking on the link to the bloodysexy.cz website on the Sasazu page, turn down your speakers, there’s a loud autoplay video on it.
Don’t have a costume? No problem, drop by the well-stocked Agentura Karneval in Prague 10, but don’t go on Thursday (28th) as they’re closed for the national holiday.
Sunday 31st – One for the kids
Bohemia Bagel’s annual Halloween party runs from 4-6pm on the 31st at their Masna location near Old Town Square. Reservations advised.
