The all-conquering Grosseto Italian restaurant chain (5 branches and counting) have just opened their latest place, Grosseto Marina, right on the river. Literally – it’s a custom-designed barge that is moored right by the Rudolfinum and has one of the best views of any riverfront restaurant we’ve been to, truly a prime spot, with front-row views of Prague Castle and Charles Bridge, and always a pleasure boat or two passing by.
In pleasant weather take a seat on the terrace deck, but if it’s raining there are plenty of tables on the indoors lower deck.
What makes it different to many other places along the embankment is that Grosseto Marina’s prices are in line with their other less centrally located branches. You’re not paying a premium for the vistas, with most pizzas and pastas comfortably under 200Kc. It’s not quite the best Italian in the city, but it’s pretty damn good and the location and prices combine to put it firmly near the top of our list of places in the centre to recommend to all our guests.
