Gourmet Experiences in Croatia

Over the last close season our team in Croatia has been hard at work seeking out amazing gourmet experiences for our guests to enjoy on their tours up and down the country.

Whether you’re a wine buff, oyster fiend or truffle connoisseur, we’ve got something that you’ll remember long after you return home.

istria-truffle-huntingTruffle Hunting in Istria

You’ll be picked up from your accommodation in Rovinj then driven into the Istrian countryside to start your truffle adventure. You will be greeted by your host with a welcome drink and a spread of truffle products to get you in the mood. After sampling these delicacies it’s time to go and find some truffles with the aid of a truffle hound (pigs might have a keener sense for truffles but they take a lot more arguing with to get the truffle from them). With a little luck you’ll have a fruitful hunt and return to the farmhouse to enjoy a traditional dish featuring the just-picked truffles and a glass of local wine.

trogir-dinnerTrogir Tour and Gourmet Dinner

How about some history with a side of gourmet dinner? The UNESCO protected old town of Trogir is a favorite stop for many of our guests with its proximity to Split town without the hustle and bustle of the bigger city as well as being just a few minutes from Split airport. Wandering through the old town’s streets and alleyways on your own can be fun but its history really comes alive with the help of your very own local guide, telling you all the town’s stories. You’ll get even closer to Trogir’s heart by trying the best local cuisine in the renowned Tragos restaurant where your guide will take you after your tour. Local specialties prepared with locally grown and organic ingredients. It doesn’t get tastier than that.

hvar-cooking-classHvar Island Cooking Class

This captivating experience will teach you a few culinary tricks and get you out into the rugged landscape of Hvar’s interior as you’re driven to your island cooking class. Your cooking class takes place at the home of the last remaining resident of the abandoned village of Malo Grablje. Your host and teacher will take you for a walk around the village visiting his various gardens spread about the place, picking fresh herbs and vegetables to use for your meal. After you’ve gathered the necessary supplies it’s time to cook and your host will share some island cooking secrets with you to go home with.

peljesac-oystersPeljesac Wine and Oyster Tasting

A short drive from Dubrovnik is the Peljesac peninsula, a region that produces two of Croatia’s most famous wines, Dingac and Plavac Mali, the forebear of modern day Zinfandel. The town of Ston is known as the place for the best oysters in Croatia and you won’t just be tasting them, you’ll learn how oysters and mussels are farmed too. You’ll enjoy a lunch of the freshest oysters and mussels as well as make two stops in local wineries for tastings.
