Postojna cave and Predjama castle

Postojna is the largest and the most visited cave in Slovenia. There are around 5 km of tunnels open for tourists. At first an underground tourist train takes you through older underground tunnels; the way continues on a well maintained walking route through the most beautiful halls, pass the rare animal proteus and on to the concert hall, where due to outstanding acoustics concerts often take place. Predjama castle is located 10 km away from Postojna, it is cut into a rock wall up high above the ground. It used to be a shelter of a knight by the name Erasmus and that is why every summer traditional medieval knight tournament is staged there. The castle is open for tourist visitors as well.
