Koper is the main port of Slovenia; its medieval city centre has preserved the Venetian architecture
Izola is charming seaside resort that used to be an island called Isola
Piran, jewel of the Slovene coast is a well known small seaside fishing city with a rich history predominantly connected with Venetian Republic. We recommend taking a walk from Tartini Square with the architecture and stile of the Venetian Gothic to the cathedral and the walls originating from the times of Turkish invasions from where in clear weather Venice can be seen
Portoroz is the centre of coastal tourism with numerous hotels, shops, bars and restaurants;
Secoveljske soline – SeÄovlje Salt-Pans Landscape Park where salt-making is preserved up until today. The salt-pans lie right next to the Croatian border by the mouth of the river Dragonja and they are an internationally vital wetland with extraordinary landscape and ecological treasures. On the part of the old desolated salt-pans there is a museum where the salt makers' lives are presented throughout centuries all until today; salt can be bought there.
For a pleasant closure of the hike we recommend a glass of wine and a plate of Mediterranean specialties.
